How to Request an Infographic
An infographic is an assemblage of graphic elements, images, charts, and content, that gives a concise overview of a topic. They are a great tool for making complex information easy to digest:
- visualize a concise story
- explain a process
- display data
- summarize important information
- compare and contrast
- raise awareness
In this guide, you will learn how to create the perfect infographics brief with ManyPixels! 👇🏻
1. Project name
This first section is similar to the subject line of an email - the more concise you can be, the better! Examples: 👇🏻
- Timeline infographic design for brand development
- How-to infographic design for working remotely
- List infographic design for having a pet benefits
2. Select your brand profile.
You will be asked to select which brand profile you would like to link with each brief. Are there any colors, fonts, logos, etc that we need to include in the infographic? If you have an official brand manual, please select it here. This will help us better understand your brand's visual strategy and will dictate what style we approach when creating your graphics.
👉🏻 You can choose an already created brand profile, allowing your designer to have access to those brand assets you want to be redesigned or used as inspiration, making the process faster and easier.
👉🏻 You can request a completely new project, in which case you can always create a new brand profile or simply use the upload button below for any designs, assets, or inspiration we should follow.

3. Types of infographics
The visual format you choose depends on how you want to organize your information. Here's a list of the most-used types of infographics, to help you identify which one will best serve your purpose: 👇🏻
- Mixed charts 👉🏻 this type of infographic includes both charts and graphs and it's the best choice for when you have many statistics, facts, and figures to communicate to your audience.
- List 👉🏻 is composed mostly of text and doesn’t rely too much on visual elements.
- Timeline 👉🏻 it shows how something has evolved over time or it tells a story in chronological order.
- How-to 👉🏻 it shows the steps that a certain action involves.
- Process 👉🏻 also known as flow chart or decision-tree, it refers specifically to the description of a process.
- Comparison 👉🏻 besides comparing two products side by side, it can also be used to reveal similarities and differences.
- Location 👉🏻 usually in the form of a map with icons and color-coded regions, this type of visual is ideal for comparing regional and global statistics on a relevant subject that readers care about.
- Photo-graphic 👉🏻 is what results from the combination of high-quality images and graphic elements such as simple line charts, icons or text, illustrations, etc.
- Hierarchical 👉🏻 it organizes information according to levels, whether it is of importance, difficulty, income level, etc.
- Single chart 👉🏻 it simply uses one chart type as the focal point of the data visualization.
- Visualized Numbers 👉🏻 also known as “number porn”, it uses large numbers, icons, or other graphic elements to visualize stats and figures.
4. Describe the project
Do you have any specific elements that you want to see in your infographic?
The most efficient approach for getting back great, unique concepts from your designer is simply.. communication. Your assigned designer/illustrator cannot yet read your mind so the more into detail you can go regarding what you need and how it fits into your business, the faster you will obtain a perfect matching end result. 🙌🏻
5. Copy, sizes, and formats
👉🏻 What size and format do you need?
What size do you need the infographic to be and what file formats do you need us to provide? This information is essential to know from the beginning of the project so that no time is wasted on incorrect formats. Large, complex print infographics, for example, take longer than some low-resolution graphics for the web. We need to consider this in the scope of work so as to properly set up delivery expectations.
👉🏻 What's the exact copy you want to include?
Titles, subtitles, paragraphs, we need to have access to your final content. 👌🏻
Before you submit the brief to your designer you need to mention also what graphics or images you want to show. Once you have a solid plan for what section should contain, your designer can start thinking about the concept.
💡Tips & Tricks! Does your design project require custom illustrations/icons?
If the answer is yes, don't forget to mention in the brief all details related, so that an illustrator along with a graphics designer can be assigned to your project right from the start, avoiding delays.
6. Inspiration
What other similar infographic concepts do you like and why? You can upload them as attachments, share them as links or even save them and select them as your brand profile.

If revisions are needed, no worries, you can easily communicate with your designer using the chat in the ManyPixels app.
💡Tips & Tricks! Your assigned designer/illustrator will provide daily updates until the project is completed. Here is a rough estimate of what you can expect to receive on a daily basis 👉🏻 daily output.
