How to Request Web Design?
A website is a collection of web pages and related content that is identified by a common domain name and published on at least one web server.
Your website impacts how your audience perceives your brand. The impression you make on them can either get them to remain on your page and learn about your business or leave your page and turn to a competitor. A good web design helps you keep your leads on your page.
In this guide, you will learn how to create the perfect web design brief with ManyPixels, to receive creative design concepts that show what your future website will look like. 👇🏻
1. The type of design
☝🏻 You must choose between three options:
- a new design from scratch - you don't have any mockups or wireframes, you wish to create web pages from scratch.
- new design based on mockups, wireframes - you already have the desired structure.
- redesign - you already have a current version for your website, you just wish to improve the concept.
There are three imperative brand assets (design elements) that you need finalized and shared with your designer before you submit the brief. You can upload them as attachments, share them as links, or even save and select them as your brand profile.
✅ final logo (source file included)
✅ brand color palette
✅ brand fonts
2. The tools
Pick a design software that allows your designer to create professional and clean concepts while matching your needs in terms of deliverables. Here's what we can work with: 👇🏻
- Photoshop
- Sketch
- Figma
💡 Tips & Tricks! If you are not sure which one to pick or simply have no preferences regarding the deliverables, pick the fourth option 👉🏻 Let my designer choose.
3. Define the purpose of the website
This section of the creative brief must contain all the necessary information to answer the most important question of all 👉🏻 What is the project about?
The scope of it must be correctly and precisely defined. Below are a few other questions that might help: 👇🏻
- What are your business and industry about?
- What is your target market? Who are your clients and what do they think about your brand?
- What feelings and associations do you want to evoke?
- What are the functional and emotional benefits it will deliver to customers? What problem does it solve?
4. Content
Before you submit the brief to your designer you need to know what points you want to get across, what information you need to include, and what graphics or images you want to show. Once you have a solid plan for what each web page should contain, your designer can start thinking about the concept.
☝🏻 You’re going to have to provide all of the content as well as provide the general structure of the site.
Regarding the structure, think about what pages you need. Some common ones are:
- homepage
- about page
- contact page
- blog
- product directory
- portfolio
- gallery
Your ManyPixels designer will work on each of these pages according to your needs and for each one, the content will be needed. You don’t necessarily need to have all content finalized, but you do need to have an overall idea of what you want: structure, copy, imagery, and assets.
5. Inspiration
What are your aesthetic preferences or reference materials you are inspired by? Always provide a visual direction for your designer 👉🏻 What other similar concepts do you like and why? You can upload them as attachments, share them as links or even save them and select them as your brand profile. You can also upload or provide the link to your current website, in case of a redesign.
- upload similar graphics that you like or assets you already have and want to use;
- provide links to similar concepts that you like, on platforms such as Dribbble, Behance, Pinterest, ManyPixels Portfolio, etc., or any other inspirational source you might find convenient.

6. Do you need a responsive design?
Since half of all web activity comes from mobile, your website must have a responsive design to help increase your conversion rate. An efficient website should match your brand guidelines, look perfect on mobile and tablet devices, load quickly, and be ultra clickable.
💡Tips & Tricks! Does your design project require custom illustrations/icons? If the answer is yes, don't forget to mention in the brief all details related, so that an illustrator along with a web designer can be assigned to your project right from the start, avoiding delays.
🙌🏻 After you've successfully completed all sections of the brief and submitted the project, your assigned designer will start working on it and will deliver the first draft on the next business day (sometimes 2 days, depending on the complexity of the task).
Your designer will provide daily updates until the project is completed. Here is a rough estimate of what you can expect to receive from us on a daily basis 👉🏻 daily output. If revisions are needed, no worries, you can easily communicate with your designer using the chat in the ManyPixels app.
